Adult Counselling Service

Our counselling service is based at Gaddum house in Manchester, and offers fixed term therapy for common mental health conditions.

This service can be accessed by anyone, regardless of locations.  We accept self-referrals, as well as referrals from other agencies/professionals/family members

Therapy usually lasts for 6 to 12 sessions.  The service is primarily staffed by trainee and volunteer therapists, who are all registered with professional bodies

Initially clients will be invited for an assessment, in order to gain information and ensure that clients are matched with the most suitable therapist for their needs.  Assessments are conducted by experienced therapists and give the client more information about the services

It is important to mention that this is not a free service.  Clients can choose how much they pay per session (this is agreed at assessment), with a minimum amount of £10 per 50-minute session (assessments are free)

Examples of reasons why people refer into this service include:

  • Low mood
  • Low level anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Difficult situational issues, such as relationship breakdowns
  • Difficult emotions, such as low self-esteem
