Salford Young Carers' Workers
Young Carers - Young Carers are children or young people under the age of 18 carrying out significant caring tasks and assuming a level of responsibility for another person, which would normally be taken by an adult.
How can a young carer worker help you? - The young carer service is there to help make caring a little bit easier for you. We can't take away your caring role, but we may be able to give you some extra help or support, give you information and give you breaks from caring.
Advice and support - If you are being bullied, or have personal or health problems that you want to discuss in confidence, talk to us.
Group events and activities - This is where you get together with other young people who may be dealing with similar issues or problems.
How to deal with ‘the system’ - You may have problems with your school, social services or the NHS for example.
Caring Information - You may need more information about the person you care for, what their medication does and what other organisations can help you and your family.
As a young carer, you will be invited to join our groups, go on trips, take part in activities and attend some residential breaks. In order for everyone to have a good time we have to have a few rules that we and young carers have come up with.
What do we do? - We make sure that professionals in Salford are in the know about young carers and the problems that you may face.
We set up new services to help young carers eg. outreach work, training sessions, forums etc. and apply for money to fund events and activities.
If any of these services interest you or if you have any information you think other young carers would find useful let the Young Carer Workers know!
